My 52 Weeks of colour challenge mosaic. If you click on the photo it should take you to Flickr, and the links to the individual photos (that have all the details of the outfits) are there. The 15 aren’t necessarily the favourite outfits, but they are some of my favourite shots. Also, because my pics weren’t a standard size, but the mosaic is, my head and feet are missing from some of them….
My set for the challeneg is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23396182@N00/sets/72157625404364192/with/6319145550/

Farewell 52 weeks of colour!
Posted by Sheila Yoshikawa under 52 weeks of colour challenge, Caverna Obscura, Fashion, Lelutka[8] Comments

I am ending Luna Jubilee’s 52 weeks of colour challenge in dramatic style, by burning myself at the stake. What is the point of life in a world with no colour challenge to look forward to? Except, there will apparently be another challenge starting in the new year, so it’s just as well I had doused myself with anti-inflammatory magic dust beforehand.
I was going to do some more pictures showing parts of the outfit in more detail, but I think you can see how pretty the main item, the Lady of the woods gown, is, just from this shot. You also get wings to match the butterfly-wing overskirt, a short skirt, a short sleeved shirt and a necklace.
So, bye bye colour challenge (waves tearfully), it was fun!
Lady of the woods gown: Caverna Obscura
Rykiel hair (tinted): Lelutka
Fire Mosaic necklace: Duh!
Kay necklace: Mashooka
Ribbon boots in pumpkin (not seen!): G Field
Setting: Baffle!’s Eerie Winds set (includes skydome, moon, grass, cemetary, spooky trees, spooky well and eerie house) and Twomoons Island witch burning in fire prop.

Cream
Posted by Sheila Yoshikawa under 52 weeks of colour challenge, Alienbear Gupte, Aphotic Gloom, Fashion, G. Field, Paradisis, Salt[5] Comments

So we are almost at the end of the 52 weeks of colour challenge, I can’t believe the time has gone so fast! This week is “cream” and I combined the top from one dress (a cute outfit with drawings of cats on it – the skirt was just too short for me) and the skirt from another one (I love this skirt!) Taking the cat theme from the top, I wore the “Cyrus Kitty” set from Alienbear Gupte; the glow on her pearls is beautiful. I also thought I should have one of the pictures with a cat (Quilt, one of my 3 kittycats). The elephant pose prop from a few weeks ago also tried to get into the picture.

This is where it all starts (Mulberry)

The title for this just popped into my head when I landed in Kari’s “Cusack” skybox. I don’t often think up fancy titles, but the sharp shadows, and slightly peeling walls gave me a feeling of someone leaving their old life behind and starting over.
As far as “Mulberry” goes, I’m a bit more “fruits of the forest”, lots of different berry colours. I didn’t think the swatch was quite Mulberry colour: I have eaten them, off this Mulberry tree outside Charlton House which is the only surviving ones of the original mulberry trees introduced to England by James 1st in the 17th Century, to try and get an English silk industry going (as silkworms eat mulberry leaves). Being 400 years old the tree is somewhat gnarled, but it does still produce some edible mulberries every year and they taste fine. This post from my work-related blog shows a picture of Charlton House and the squiggly things on top of the arch at the front are meant to be silkworms, I think. So that’s the end of the history lesson.

Wenge
Posted by Sheila Yoshikawa under 52 weeks of colour challenge, Fishy Strawberry, Nylon Outfitters, Tres Blah[2] Comments

Wenge (for the 52 weeks of colour challenge) was a colour I couldn’t get very excited about. Brown is just not something I go for in SL. I wish I’d had Rudhmellowen’s idea of being a tree which is a lot more fun. In fact I was so ho hum about Wenge that although I took my Wenge pictures last week, I only suddenly today remembered I hadn’t actually blogged them.
However, I did like this outfit in the end, probably because it is pretty wenge-lite. I think that the cardi definitely has wenge in it, and the Tres Blah undershirt is wenge (although you can’t see much of it). Also I detect wenge in the bunny-skull head. I’m a fan of Zeery’s scarves, by the way, they seem to be made for my size of avi.
Next week is mulberry, yipee, I love that colour, no wenging about that.
Cardigan: Nylon outfitters;
Neato Sweatshirt: Tres Blah;

Aragon Skirt, Fishy Strawberry;
Scarf, Zeery;

Moss green
Posted by Sheila Yoshikawa under 52 weeks of colour challenge, Fashion, Lelutka, Tomoto[6] Comments

I must admit I thought “Oh no not more green” when I saw that moss green was the latest in the 52 weeks of colour challenge. I thought that the dress I wore for the Celadon post seemed pretty close to the swatch, but when I did the usual search in my inventory, I found this very old yukata that was the right colour. I would recommend visiting Giorno Brando’s shop in Havelock, it has a Shinto shrine and is wonderfully peaceful. The yukata isn’t state-of-the-art, but you get it packaged in several different colours for 100 Linden. He sells traditional Japanese objects and buildings, and these are beautifully made.
This hydrangea fan is a favourite, and has a nice fanning animation. I dropped by the shop to see whether it was still there, and you now get it texture change with a free cotton candy, for only 30 Linden.

Brick (red or fire)
Posted by Sheila Yoshikawa under 52 weeks of colour challenge, Amacci, Caroline's, Duh, Fashion, Maitreya, Oyakin, Slow Kitchen, Tee*fy[7] Comments
Another brick colour for the 52 weeks of colour challenge. I started out with the Oyakin sweater (it looked very bricky in the vendor) and some Amacci hair that I just bought, then pulled out the skirt, leggings, undershirt and boots from my inventory. I played around with jewelry that I already had, too, but then I was lured into the Jewelry Fair (see previous post), so I’m showing off some of my foolish purchases.
I love practically anything with peacock feathers, and ended up with 2 sets of peacock feather earrings: the ones I’m wearing and another pair that came with the bracelet (left arm) and a matching necklace. I came across a couple of designers I had forgotten about, like Aliunn, who created the leather bracelet that I’ve got on just above the feather one.
Then I tried out the poses in the Croire booth – they are “Crazy Bag Lady” poses, but when my head blocked out the “bag” it seemed to fit me perfectly.
Simple knit in red: Oyakin
Asian skirt in red: Slow Kitchen
Oriental Leggings: Tee*fy (old hunt gift)
Crochet cover-up in milk (as undershirt): Jane
Soho boots: Maitreya
Augello earrings: Bliensen + MaiTai (Jewelry Fair)
Leather wrap bracelet in red: Aluinn (Jewelry Fair)
Feather bangle: NCParis Designs (Jewelry Fair)
Mosaic necklace: Duh! (not from the jewelry fair, it’s a dollarbie item I think)
Multigem ring: Caroline’s (Jewelry Fair)
Sylvie hair in blue and blue hairbase: Amacci

Skin by Tuli & eyes by Miriel, no longer available
As the bracelets don’t show up well in the first picture, I show them below, plus a gatcha bracelet from Earthstones’ booth (the green one, worn together with the red wrapped bracelet). I’ve also included a more detailed picture of the crown and necklace in my last posting: the crown was from Centopalini and the Bow Necklace a free item from Fairy Tail.

Firebrick
Posted by Sheila Yoshikawa under 52 weeks of colour challenge, AWRAM-VIIE, Fashion, Shiny Things, Truth, Zaara[3] Comments
The 52 weeks of colour challenge this week focuses on Firebrick. I ended up with quite a few things out of my inventory, but new was this really cute owl bag (the lanterns are also on sale in the shop Adjunct (where I took the first picture), using the same owl shape). The back satchel made me think “back to school” so I found this Japanese school role play sim (and spaceport….). I stood up on the school roof looking soulful, like they do in anime when they have problems.
