November 2010

Nordic
This outfit has traces of goldenrod in it. I was very pleased when I tried on this sweater dress – it fitted out of the box and it looks cute and practical. I bought a load of Zaara leggings a while back and haven’t really got good wear out of them. I thought these ones looked good with the sweater: the pattern is not so overwhelming that it clashes with the sweater, but it isn’t just dull plain black. I also hauled out my trusty Maitreya boots (I must say I’m not tempted by their latest offering, open sandals with socks, in this weather).

We are golden
Goldenrod was this week’s 52 weeks of colour challenge and of course it was certainly harder than blue, but I found a surprising amount of yellow in my inventory. I did actually find some tights that were “goldenrod” in colour, but I thought they looked a bit yucky (they were more like mud, frankly).
This skirt was the starting point – I think it might have been a hunt gift or a lucky board item. I went for triple layering on my top half, and I rooted out this necklace, which has really good quality colour-change options.
This Melino Style cabinet is really pretty, and also really golden, so I thought I’d use it as a back drop. BTW the “we are golden” title is a reference to an old song (“we are stardust, we are golden…”)

52 weeks of colour challenge: Blue
Obviously I had to join in this week’s colour challenge, given the name of my blog (i.e. “Blueness”, because of my hair). I was tempted to use some new Amacci hair, since I rushed over there as soon as I saw they had started doing blue (and at a bargain price). However, i thought I should feature one of my “staple” blue hair designers. My favourites are Kin, W&Y, Truth, Zero Style and Schadenfreude: I feel they put some effort into the blue hair. There are some designers whose blue hair is extremely flat in comparison with the “normal” colours. For Schadenfreude, though, blue IS a normal colour, and there is a whole range of blues.
The look actually started with an old favourite, one of my first “occasionwear” dresses. I carried through the feathery theme with the incredibly detailed boa, also from Schadenfreude. I think this lapis necklace is really beautiful and have featured it at least once before.

Grey power
I couldn’t resist joining in Luna Jubilee’s great 52 weeks of colour challenge, especially as the first week was grey, and I’d been wanting to blog the grey version of the Nylon Oufitter’s cardi. I was going to use Mimikri’s sequinned “Dana” bloomers, but I couldn’t find quite the right boots, so I was pleased when I discovered these “treggings” (cross between trousers and leggings) in my inventory. In fact, in the end this all came out of my inventory, which tells you how overstuffed it is with things I haven’t even worn…. Of course, I had to stick to blue hair, and I am already committed to next week’s challenge because the colour next week is blue, yay.

Zaara & Luce
Lots of people have been blogging the free Luce cardigans (I haven’t managed to grab the Lucky Board one yet!) and I couldn’t resist joining in, though I actually paid for this Ivory coloured one. I also liked the Luce gatcha ribbon bracelets. The rest of the outfit is pure Zaara, showing how well her separates and accessories blend together.
