Silver

Silver was a lovely choice for this time of year (in the 52 weeks of colour challenge), and I decided to mix practical and glitzy. I haven’t been grabbed by a lot of the recent Maitreya releases, but I love these boots. I realised after I had taken all the pictures that I was so keen to wear them and get posed that I forgot to fiddle with all the lace, strap and buckle change options. Still, keeping them dark means the slush doesn’t stain them. I wanted to feature Mimikri items, and actually ended up more subdued than I thought I would. The leggings are in her discount shop, and a number of other items there are good value. I also wanted to show off some Eolande’s discount items, since I have been a fan of hers ever since I entered SL, and it is good that she is continuing in her new location.

Star sequin pants in silver and Luz shrug in grey: Mimikri (the shrug also has a bow, but I left it off as I didn’t want to distract from the necklace)
Neoto sweatshirt in grey: Tres Blah
Stone Halo necklace and earrings in lapis/silver: Eolande’s
Shearling boots in Smoke: Maitreya Gold (in the right hand corner of the Maitreya Gold shop, I say that since I wasted ages fighting the lag round the main Maitreya shop trying to find them)
Raga oyster ring *paua* in silver: Zaara (only visible in the last picture)
Trinity hair in blueberry: Truth (with Amacci blue tattoo hairbase)
Skin is Eva tone 1 by Tuli (no longer available in the “new” Eva skins; I’m very depressed about how she seems to have stopped doing really pale skins) and “winter” eyes by Miriel (also no longer available).

The first picture is taken at home with an Adorkable poseball and a reindeer by Corbin Coage. The second one was taken in the Drowsy winter market. This final picture was taken at home and also gives you a good view of the boots.

It’s green in the 52 weeks of colour challenge, and this is my festive attempt! Merry Christmas!

Cerise
As soon as I saw “Cerise” was the next colour in the “52 weeks” challenge, I thought of one of my favourite ever dresses, this “Elizabeth” dress from Last Call. I don’t usually feature pictures of my bottom (see 2nd picture), but the satin texture of this is perfect and the skirt also hangs just right, beautifully designed with just a few prims. The shrug I am wearing was the only thing in my inventory which I found when I searched on Cerise. After a lot of trying-on, I settled on this shell jewelry set from (luc) as it had just the right mixture of colours. To begin with I was wearing a smooth updo, but this rougher hair looked more “me”.
Thanks again to Luna Jubilee for starting the challenge, here is her Cerise post.

Inspired by plum
Next up on Luna Jubilee’s 52 weeks of colour challenge is plum. I thought I was going to manage this quite well, but in the end I don’t seem to be wearing anything that is exactly the right colour. Oh well. I did start by wearing a Jane undershirt that was the right shade, but that disappeared once I’d fixed on a more sumptuous vintage feel for the outfit. Anyway, I think I am at least circling around the right shade.
This colour challenge has been great for discovering lost corners of my inventory. I can’t remember ever wearing this purple satin jacket (or indeed, buying it), nor these earrings. The headpiece is a “full perms” piece from Random Calliope that I picked up a couple of years ago. I put some of this many-coloured set (this is allowed by the creator) in a box here (in a box on a shelf up behind the bar).

We are golden
Goldenrod was this week’s 52 weeks of colour challenge and of course it was certainly harder than blue, but I found a surprising amount of yellow in my inventory. I did actually find some tights that were “goldenrod” in colour, but I thought they looked a bit yucky (they were more like mud, frankly).
This skirt was the starting point – I think it might have been a hunt gift or a lucky board item. I went for triple layering on my top half, and I rooted out this necklace, which has really good quality colour-change options.
This Melino Style cabinet is really pretty, and also really golden, so I thought I’d use it as a back drop. BTW the “we are golden” title is a reference to an old song (“we are stardust, we are golden…”)

Grey power
I couldn’t resist joining in Luna Jubilee’s great 52 weeks of colour challenge, especially as the first week was grey, and I’d been wanting to blog the grey version of the Nylon Oufitter’s cardi. I was going to use Mimikri’s sequinned “Dana” bloomers, but I couldn’t find quite the right boots, so I was pleased when I discovered these “treggings” (cross between trousers and leggings) in my inventory. In fact, in the end this all came out of my inventory, which tells you how overstuffed it is with things I haven’t even worn…. Of course, I had to stick to blue hair, and I am already committed to next week’s challenge because the colour next week is blue, yay.

On Immersiva

Apart from the skin, this outfit cost a grand total of 11 Linden. The hair was a Truth subscribo gift, the Wizard outfit (including a hat, not shown) was also free in Nicky Ree’s shop, and the staff (metal, gem, fabric and bone handle all colour change) was a whole one Linden. The earrings (spider and non-spider versions) were the most expensive part of the costume! The picture was taken on the fantastic Immersiva sim, featuring the art of Bryn Oh.

Autumn outfit
This new cardigan from Nylon Outfitters goes deliciously with the recently released Zaara skirts and some older items from Zaara: the tank top and amber bracelet. I already loved the G.Field Western boots, so I immediately snapped up these new Halloween ones at a bargain price.

Sascha Gown
I wanted to find a black gown to express my sorrow at the price increases for not-for-profits in Second Life (I’m one of those affected) but the outfit ended up looking confident rather than mournful. I have coveted this dress for months, and it is even more lovely on than I hoped it would be. The shape is gorgeous, and the chiffon flutters and floats as you move. I added a favourite black lace bolero.
I felt this hair from W&Y suited the dress really well: it has that carefully tousled look that you can only get from a really expensive hairdresser. Now that I’m using Viewer 2 I’ve been able to benefit from the W&Y hair bases. Alienbear Gupte just gave a beautiful group gift of black pearls, and those and her Mayur bracelets completed the look.

On Y's Sofa
I bought a couple of items from Wear Grey, these great shoes from SSUS, and my skirt (part of a dress). Then I couldn’t resist checking out houses at Aju, though I have a load of houses in my inventory already. This sofa is from “Y’s House”: I love the poses in this (sprawled across the couch or on the floor), I really must get one …
